Short Biography

Kenji Fujimoto received his B.E. and M.E. degrees and Ph.D. degree in Informatics from Kyoto University, in 1994, 1996 and 2001, respectively. From 1997 to 2004 he was a research associate of Graduate School of Engineering and Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. From 2004 to 2012 he was an associate professor of Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University. From 1999 to 2000 he was a research fellow of Department of Electrical Engineering, Delft University of Technology. He has held visiting appointments at the Australian National University, Delft University of Technology, Groningen University and RIKEN. He received the IFAC Congress Young Author Prize in IFAC World Congress 2005 and SICE Pioneer Award in 2007. His research interest includes control of Hamiltonian/Lagrangian systems, model order reduction for nonlinear systems, optimal control based on classical mechanics, and statistical learning for dynamical systems. He has been an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and that of IEEE Control Systems Society, Conference Editorial Board. Currently, he is an editor of SICE Journal of Control, Measurement and System Integration. He was Secretary of IEEE Control Systems Society Japan Chapter in 2010-2011, Co-Chair of International Program Committee of IFAC Workshop on Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Methods for Nonlinear Control 2006 and 2015, a member of National Organizing Committee of IFAC Workshop on Automation in the Mining, Mineral and Metal Industries 2012, Tutorial/Workshop Chair of SICE Annual Conference 2013, and Registration Chair of IEEE Conference on Decision and Control 2015.
